While there are many dumpster sizes and options out there, Selecting the correct one can save you lots of money, or possibly cause you to spend too much MOOO-LA!
First it is important to understand how roll off dumpsters are measured. The industry standard is to label the dumpsters by the capacity they hold. For example, a 20 yard dumpster will hold 20 cubic yards of debris or trash. In our case, we underrate our dumpsters by a little over a cubic yard. MOOOvable only charges for the advertised capacity so our customers are getting over an extra cubic yard of capacity per dumpster at no additional cost.
A cubic yard is 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet. One of the best examples for these dimensions is a standard house oven and stove combo. If you have large items it will be easy to place them into groups that are similar in size to the stove. You can then visualize closely what size dumpster will suite you best.
It is usually a better idea to order a larger dumpster than what you estimate you will need. MOOOvable’s price difference between the 2 sizes are normally around $50 between the 12 yard and 20 yard dumpster. To compare, an extra dump on a 12 yard dumpster can cost $170 or more.
It is very important to know that over piling the dumpster with debris is not a solution to receiving an undersized dumpster. The Louisiana Department of Transportation will not let us legally allow us to haul an overfilled dumpster on public roads. The loosing debris and fines from the state are not worth the risk. If a customer overfills a dumpster, MOOOvable will be forced to not pick up the container, charge a wasted trip charge, and bill out the daily rate until the dumpster load is level with the top. Extra dumps or larger containers are the best solutions to this problem.
Double check the space available for the dumpster rental. One of the largest benefits to renting from MOOOvable Dumpsters is our compact dumpsters. They are only 14 feet long by 8 feet wide. The extra capacity comes from the height of the walls. Also keep in mind that although the dumpster does roll off of our truck, the truck needs enough room to drive straight out from the dumpster until it clears the area. We normally have no issues setting the dumpster where our customers want them. The most common change is to have the dumpster angled slightly to be able to drive out from underneath it.
